Aluminium matrix composite — the material for the future of lightweight construction

AMC, the shortcut for aluminium matrix composite, terms to a group of different aluminium composites. What they all have in common is that the main component is an aluminium material as matrix. This matrix encloses the reinforcing component. Together, the result is a range of properties that can’t be achieved by using the components as single component material. Even more, the properties can be variably adjusted within certain limits. In our AMCs we are used ceramic as reinforced particles, more precisely SiC (silicon carbide). The result? A material composite that is almost as light as aluminium, but as wear-resistant as conventional established iron-based materials. By varying the amount and size of reinforcement as well as the alloy composition of the matrix, we can offer you a lightweight material with tribological and thermal properties optimized for your application scenario and requirements.

Ingots and bars

For further processing of the metal matrix material (short: MMC) in your own production, we supply you with the lightweight material in the form of ingots or bars. We will provide you with instructions for the further processing of the MMC alloy customised to your application. Semi-finished products

For further processing of our metal matrix materials, we offer you serial blanks. In addition, you can purchase semi-finished products from us in individual, near-net-shapes for further forming processes. If you require special shapes as semi-finished product, please do not hesitate to contact us. 

We are also working on introducing AMC powders for additive manufacturing and coating processes: These are true composite powders, not simple powder blends. Feel free to contact us.

Licences

Instead of re-melting the ingots purchased from us, we offer you all licences and the necessary plant technology to integrate uncomplicated the production of AMC melt into your own production line.
