Maximum weight savings with minimal wear
AMC - the future of lightweight construction
Aluminum matrix composites, or AMC for short, are modern lightweight materials in which aluminum is specifically reinforced with ceramic particles. This combination creates a material that combines the advantages of both worlds: the low weight of aluminum and the hardness and wear resistance of ceramics.
At CMMC, we use silicon carbide (SiC), finely distributed and homogeneously embedded in the aluminum matrix in our revolutionary casting process. This results in materials that are significantly more resilient, temperature-stable, and durable than conventional aluminum alloys of the same mass.
We can also create a customized AMC property profile for your application
(e.g., in terms of strength or abrasion behavior).
Our products
Powder
Genuine metal matrix composite powder in which the ceramic reinforcement (SiC) is embedded in the aluminum particles - not just mixed in. It enables lightweight, wear-resistant, and reliable 3D printing and coatings with easy processing.
Benefits
- Very low wear rate due to homogeneous SiC reinforcement
- Easy handling - can be processed like standard aluminum powder
- Flexible application: from 3D-printed prototypes to coating series in the millions
Ingots/bars
For use in existing foundry processes, we supply our AMC material in the form of ingots or bars—alloyed and reinforced for specific applications.
Benefits
- Continuously embedded in your own production process
- Suitable for series production
- Use of secondary aluminum
- 100% recyclable (cradle-to-cradle)
Semi-finished products and serial blanks
For mechanical processing, we offer AMC semi-finished products such as rods, blanks, and near-net shapes that can be customized to suit individual requirements.
Benefits
- Variable diameters for different wire and rod processing methods
- Formable alloys for rolling, forging, drawing
- Special shapes for customer-specific applications are possible
